Roy Burkhalter, MSN, PMHNP-BC is a board certified Family & Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and has completed the distinguished NEI Master Psychopharmacology Program with Distinction. With a robust academic background from Viterbo University and Regis College, and distinctive professional experiences, including 14 years in the U.S. Army, serving in the Airborne Infantry. He brings a unique and valuable perspective to providing compassionate and understanding mental healthcare; having served 2 combat tours in Iraq and having served as a US Army Master Resiliency Training Trainer. Roy has a strong call to helping serve others, and spent six years volunteering as a Community Emergency Medical First Responder Volunteer in Tomah, WI and six years working as an Advanced EMT.
In his practice, Roy combines his experiences to value the whole individual, using his analytic skills to develop a comprehensive and collaboratively tailored treatment plan with his patients. He conducts comprehensive mental health evaluation and assessments and prescription management for depression, anxiety, ptsd, military sexual traumas, ocd, adhd, and mood disorders. His experience as a registered nurse in a VA Residential Rehabilitation and Treatment Program fuels his passion for mental health, particularly in working with Veterans.
Roy truly listens and sees his patients, demonstrating respect and consideration for individual needs and backgrounds. He is currently accepting new patients 16 and up at Mindful Psychiatry. His commitment to patient-centered care and mental health will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to our team and our patients' well-being.
