How long before I can be seen for my first appointment?
The typical wait time to be scheduled for your first appointment may be as quick as 2-4 weeks from when you complete your paperwork.

Do you see children or adolescents?
- Roy Burkhalter, APRN is accepting new patients 16 years and older.
- Theresa Lupe, APRN is accepting new patients 18 years and older.
- Jenifer Raymond, APRN will be seeing new patients 10 years and older.
- Brianna Ayala, APRN will be seeing new patients 5 years and older.
- Nicole Schultz APRN is currently closed to new patients.
Are you seeing patients by telehealth?
Our providers are currently seeing patients by tele-health, following current state regulations and laws. This allows our patients the best access to care without interrupting their busy days; whether taking less time off work, not having to arrange for childcare, or less time off school. It also protects patient privacy, as it allows patients to be seen discretely without sitting in a shared waiting room.
At this time, unless explicitly discussed with your provider, our providers are NOT booking in person appointments.
How long will my appointment be?
Your first appointment is blocked for 45-60 minutes with your provider.
You will typically see your provider every 4 weeks (or sooner depending on symptoms and medication changes) for the first six months. Depending on your treatment goals and medications, after that time you and your provider may start to book your appointments with longer intervals.
Most patients on controlled substances will continue to meet with their provider monthly, to allow for the necessary monitoring of these medications.
Your first follow-up appointment will be booked for 30 minutes.
Typical follow-up appointments after this are booked for 15 minutes meeting with the provider.
Do providers also offer therapy or counseling?
No, at Mindful Psychiatry, our primary focus is evidence-based medication management and psychiatric care. Our providers take a thorough, collaborative approach to treatment and work closely with each patient to develop an individualized care plan tailored to their needs.
While we do not offer weekly 45–50 minute therapy sessions, our providers incorporate supportive and non-pharmacological strategies when appropriate. We believe in a balanced approach and do not rely solely on medication.
If therapy or counseling is recommended as part of your care, we can provide personalized referrals to trusted therapists and counselors in the community. You may also search for in-network providers by specialty using resources such as Psychology Today.
Do you take my insurance?
Theresa Lupe, APRN, Nicole Schultz, APRN, and Roy Burkhalter are currently in-network with:
* Blue Cross Blue Shield, Florida Blue, BCBS
* Optum (UBH), Healthfirst Oscar Optum plans, Healthfirst Optum
* Medicare
* Humana (Tricare) out of network covering provider
* Cigna, Evernorth, Healthfirst Cigna
* Aetna
Message our staff to check currently which insurances Jenifer Raymond and Brianna Ayala are in network with as this will be an ongoing process from June to September 2026.
Our providers are unfortunately NOT in network with any Medicaid plans or Medicare Advantage Plans. If you have a Medicaid plan, your insurance may also not cover any prescriptions we prescribe.
If your provider is not in network, some insurances will remit payment partially or fully for out-of-network services. Our billing specialist can discuss out-of-network options.
We offer self pay rates, which are based on the time spent with the provider. See Insurance and Self Pay Rates.
I need a provider to do a legal evaluation or a disability evaluation.
If you are looking for a provider to attest or certify on a disability or other legal cases or claims, this is not typically a service we provide. Our policy states that you must be a patient for at least 3 months before our providers will consider signing off on any disability or other legal paperwork.
If you already have disability, we keep meticulous notes and with your written permission will furnish these notes to SS. However, until being adequately familiar with your case, we will not make any statement of opinion or long term prognosis until at least 3 months.
If you are looking for disability or legal evaluations, or think it is necessary immediately, we encourage you to seek a provider who offers this from the start of service.
